Christiania

That’s Christiania, a self-governing neighbourhood in Copenhagen, Denmark. It’s like a little village within the city, with unique rules and a strong sense of community.

You’ll find art everywhere you look! From colourful murals and graffiti to quirky sculptures and installations. The atmosphere is relaxed and free-spirited, focusing on creativity and self-expression. You can wander down cobblestone streets with workshops, cafes, and shops selling handmade goods.

Christiania has a special energy. It’s a place where people come to be themselves, to explore their passions, and to connect with others who share similar values.

Just remember to follow the local rules and be respectful of the community.

Christiania started as a hippie commune in 1971!

A bunch of people took over some abandoned military buildings and turned them into a self-governing community. They had their own rules and even their currency. It was a radical idea and caused a lot of controversy with the Danish government. Over time, things have changed a lot. Today, Christiania is a mix of things – you’ll find artists’ workshops, cafes, and even a cannabis market alongside more traditional businesses. It’s still a unique place with its special atmosphere, filled with art and free spirit.
